These Terms & Conditions govern membership of the Rivonia Wide Residents Association (RWRA), a voluntary and Public Benefit Organisation and Non-Profit Residents' Association, Company Registration Number 2024 / 533175 / 08, operating within its designated geographic area of Ward 106, Rivonia, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.
1.1 Membership is open to:
Property owners
Permanent or long-term residents
Business owners or tenants
within the geographic boundaries of the suburb of Rivonia, designated by the Demarcation Board of South Africa.
1.2 Applicants must provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information when applying for membership and agree to notify RWRA of any material changes.
1.3 RWRA reserves the right to approve or decline membership applications at its sole discretion, acting reasonably and in the interests of the community.
2.1 Membership fees, where applicable, are set annually by the RWRA Executive Committee and approved in accordance with RWRA's constitution.
2.2 Fees are payable in advance and are non-refundable unless otherwise determined by the committee.
2.3 Failure to pay membership fees by the due date may result in suspension or termination of membership and associated benefits.
3.1 General Members are entitled to:
Attend and participate in RWRA meetings
Receive communications, updates, and access to member platforms
3.2 Members agree to:
Act in good faith and in the best interests of the community
Comply with RWRA's constitution, policies, codes of conduct, and lawful instructions of the committee
Avoid conduct that may bring RWRA or the community into disrepute
4.1 RWRA collects and processes personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
4.2 Personal information may include names, contact details, property addresses, and communication preferences.
4.3 Personal information is collected solely for legitimate RWRA purposes, including:
Membership administration
Community communication and alerts
Security, safety, and operational coordination
4.4 RWRA will take reasonable technical and organisational measures to safeguard personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, or disclosure.
4.5 Personal information will not be shared with third parties without consent, except where:
Required by law
Necessary for legitimate RWRA operations (e.g. security providers, communication platforms), subject to appropriate safeguards
4.6 Members have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information, subject to legal and operational requirements.
5.1 RWRA uses digital platforms including email, messaging services (e.g. WhatsApp), websites, and social media to communicate with members.
5.2 Members participating in RWRA-managed digital or social platforms agree to:
Comply with the Terms & Conditions of these Groups as stipulated on those specific platforms
Communicate respectfully and lawfully
Refrain from harassment, hate speech, defamatory statements, or misinformation
Not share RWRA communications externally without authorisation where such content is confidential or sensitive
5.3 RWRA reserves the right to moderate, restrict, or remove content and participants from its platforms to maintain constructive engagement.
5.4 Views expressed by members on RWRA platforms do not necessarily reflect the views of RWRA or its committee.
6.1 Members must treat fellow members, committee members, service providers, and public officials with respect.
6.2 Abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or unlawful conduct—whether in person or online—will not be tolerated.
6.3 Breaches of the Code of Conduct may result in warnings, suspension, or termination of membership.
7.1 RWRA is a voluntary association and does not provide guarantees regarding safety, security, service delivery, or outcomes of community initiatives.
7.2 Members participate in RWRA activities, meetings, and initiatives at their own risk.
7.3 To the extent permitted by law, RWRA, its committee members, and volunteers shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or expense arising from participation in RWRA activities.
7.4 Members indemnify RWRA against claims arising from their own unlawful, negligent, or unauthorised actions.
8.1 Membership may be terminated by a member at any time by providing written notice.
8.2 RWRA may suspend or terminate membership where a member:
Breaches these Terms & Conditions or RWRA policies
Engages in conduct detrimental to RWRA or the community
Fails to pay membership fees
8.3 Termination decisions will be made fairly, and members may be afforded an opportunity to make representations where appropriate.
9.1 RWRA reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
9.2 Members will be notified of material changes via reasonable communication channels. Continued membership constitutes acceptance of amended terms.
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
